improperly installed seatbelts? '96 grand cherokee
im pretty sure someone improperly installed the seatbelts on this 96 cherokee.. both lengths of strap for the shoulder, AND the strap thats SUPPOSED to go over the lap seem to be coming out of the body trim near the shoulder from the same location... this does not seem right at all... does anyone have a good photo of the seatbelt straps on a 96 cherokee for me to compare to?
id really like to see a photo of the seat belts and how theyre supposed to be attached ain a 96 grand cherokee, theres evidence that the body panel on the inside had been removed before, so its quite possible they were put back on wrong

If you have a pic of this throw it up so we can see what it is your seeing. Heres mine out of a '93. Im gna go out on a limb and say this is the standard place for the belts to be in any vehicle. The pic on the left is for the shoulder belt, mounted to the upper part of the beam, and the pic on the right is for the lap belt mounted on the lower part of the beam near the floor . Both for the drivers seat belt.
yeah... see, i found that bolt at the bottom of the body panel... however, the section thats supposed to bolt there is behind the body panel... some idiot who owned the vehicle prior to me installed it wrong, and the plugs over the screws to remove the body panel have been removed, evidence the panels have been taken off before... so i have to take the panels off again i guess, and redo the seatbelts properly...
one final question though... will i need a phillips h ead or some kind of torx bit to remove the body panel screws?

you will just have to look and see what type of screws are holding it in and go from there. Usually its just held in by clips. Havnt taken them off of mine so Im not sure.
ive found the screws holding the interior trim paneling on.. some screws are missing, which is a sure sign its been removed before... the others seem to be rusted to the point of stripping out under even little force.. so ill have to drill them out
to drill them out im probably going to have to remove the seats to make access for my drill... and to remove these ill have to remove the stock lock on the drivers side rear door... i guess i have my work cut out for me
