We've got an '04 WJ SE w/ the 4.7L V8, and AWD that we bought new. It has 87,000 miles on it and we've taken numerous trips in it with no problems. It doesn't have the torque that my '97 ZJ's 5.2L V8 has, so if you want more power look for one with the 4.7L HO V8 that was available in some models. JMO
And Welcome to CF!

thanks alot... really want one... i drive a 2wd 03 4runner right now and it doesnt cut it haha.... also could use some money that the 4runner is worth to help with the mountain house we just bought literally a week ago ha. but it seems like a great deal cause i find so many limiteds with the v8's and 4wd for like 6k with less then 130k miles on them.... it seems crazy so i was wondering why they dont hold their values??? is there any reason they are so cheap or is it just that there is a ton of them haha... tahnks for the help again

I think there's just too many out there and the market's saturated, so it's a buyers market. Lots of low mile examples for less than, or around $6 grand.

I have an 04 with the 4.0, auto with the select trac TC. Look for a v8 version and you wont be disappointed. Dont get me wrong the six has plenty of go but the v8 would have been nice. Make sure you find a select trac transfer case first and formost.

I am happy with my 2000 with 4.0. Lacking in power and gas mileage since its pushing a boat but thats to be expected. Definitly look for the v8 but be aware the climate control system has been known to have issues on the models it comes in.

if you want a wj, especially one with 120k plus on the clock, my only advice is to have a rainy day repair fund of no less than 1000 bucks. i bought a clean 2000 4.0 w/ selec trac with 118k for about 5000 bucks not expecting to spend any major money on repairs. 6k miles later and i've had the transmission/ transfercase rebuilt, new hub assemblys, new cv axles, i damned mystery noise in reverse (even after rebuilds ) and a heating system that only gets to luke warm.

Just find one that has been maintained well and you shouldn't have any issues. I've heard the tranny behind the 4.0L was an issue in some earlier models. If I was buying a WJ I'd get one with the 4.7L. My dad had a '99 WJ Limited with the 4.7L and AWD. He put over 200K hard miles on it. That thing was always towing some kind of trailer every weekend since he bought it. Either his tow behind camper or a heavy dual axle dump trailer. After all he put that thing through it still ran great and the tranny shifted like butter. With his 4.7L V8 he got even better mileage than my XJ. I get 15 city 20 highway and he got 16-17 city and 22-24 highway. He even got 26 mpg once when we drove to Maine.

nice that thing sounds like a tank.... now im debating a zj as well cause that 5.9L is tempting and i found a black one for 5,600 $ and 120k miles... its a 98... anyways i did find a 1999 laredo v8 select trac just now but i feel they want too much for it... 130k miles and they are asking 8k.... anyways im not looking to purchase for another month or 2.
