Hooks?
Has anyone ever made custom hook brackets on the rear of their jeep? Considering they are unibodys if you pulled someone out with just one side will that effect the body any? Also if I had a hook on either side and tied into both of the would the bend the body in? I need something. Tips on pulling people out with a GC. Im just a little worried about my jeep. Dont want to break her.
Thanks!!

I put a hitch on mine and use a receiver hook. I think most people do this. A bracket would need to be long to clear the bumper(cover) but I guess it could be done. As far as pulling on one side I think it would be like just pulling with one of the front hooks. Personally I would rather use the hitch if at all possible since they are made for pulling. I have a Hidden hitch and it doesn't hang down very far so I don't lose much departure angle.

I like the hooks. I will have a hitch. But I can get the hooks done cheaper. And I will trim the bumper. Thats not a worry. Just dont want to break anything. Do you have pics of you hitch? and where you get it? How much?
Also if anyone has done this. Please post pics. Thanks

Don't know how similar ZJs are to XJs in this regard, but I have a rear tow hook bracket that's basically an L-shaped bracket, the longer part of the L feeding back through the bumper channel on the unibody, with nuts welded onto it. It uses the existing holes in the unibody to put the bolts through. The short part of the L then bolts through existing holes in the unibody behind/inside the bumper with grade 8 bolts and nuts/washers. Then the bumper's bolted back on as it was before.
These came from the factory on some XJs, and I would imagine some ZJs also had factory rear tow hooks. Might wanna look into it.
HTH!

I went with a curt hitch from JCwhitney. At first i was looking at getting hooks but then i thought why not hit two birds with one broken bolt, getting a tow point and being able to tow, so i got a hitch that does both. Save's $$.
Here's the same one i got, but for your model and year:

$129 free shipping is a helluva deal. You get a 2" drop ball mount free. Mine came with everything in 3 days, even though it said 7-10 days.
Add this to your order and you will be good to pull:

This is the hitch i got. It came in a BIG box. Shipping would be ridiculous on that, thank god it's free.
(that's the drop ball mount wrapped to the hitch on the right side)
cat wasn't included.

Hmm. you sound just like my kid, who I threaten to take his stuff if you can't get up in the morning. He really likes it when I set the router to shut down at 11pm.
Guess you won't need hooks if you can't drive the jeep.
Or else you will have lots of time to work on it if you can't drive it. Maybe getting up in the morning might be an option
