Hood problem
Look at the first picture, my hood has been like that since i bought it. Since i'm already working on her, i took it off hoping to figure out whats going on. I was expecting to find that the hinges were seizing in some way and not going all the way down.
To my surprise they move quite freely, and appear to tuck all the way down. So i'm not sure why the hood sits up like that? I snapped a few, albeit crappy, pictures of both hinges. The passenger side, where it comes to the firewall/fender area, it appears to have a "slot" to recess into. The driver side "slot" looks smaller, like maybe it was in an accident or something.
The only thing is both hinges look like they sit down just as far as each other. Any ideas?

what do the bolts look like that bolt into the hood? are they too long?
Try spraying PB Buster all over the hing area, try not to get it on your fenders, i'm not sure if it will eat paint or not but be on the safe side

Bolts look fine. I sprayed them down for kicks but i been doing that for months thinking they were seizing, but like i said they move freely. I can push them down by hand.

Springs appear to be perfect.
Can someone snap some good photos of the area where the fender meets up with the hinge? The little area behind the hinge between it, the fender, and the windshield. I think the fender was repaired and is "filling in" a gap that appears to be present on the passenger side and not on the driver. Maybe it's a drop in channel for the hinge that doesn't exist now.

Update:
It is definitly not the hinges, they move completely and freely. I put the hood back on and noticed that no matter how i adjust it, it sits up off the fenders, going back until creating that big gap. I removed all the rubber bumpers and adjustment pads, no change. I checked to see if the hood is hitting anything, and as best i can tell it's not.
I tried sitting on the hood above the hinges and you can tell they want to go down, but something simply is not letting them. The hinges are not hitting or contacting anything.
I can not figure it out, but the driver side is much worse. The driver side distance from the fender to there corner of the hood (back by the hinge) is a full 1 1/2 inches higher then the passenger side. Heres a picture of the driver.
I cannot figure out what is keeping the hood up.

Could it be that some one installed the wrong hinges? See if you can fine a hinge for your jeep( junk yard or store ) and compare the part or look up the part number.
When common sense does not apply look for the odd ball answer.
Hope this is A help.

I'll see if i can find them online and have a look. I honestly wouldn't be surprised.
Edit: My hinges appear to be correct:

There is no problem here, just a custom hood spacer cooling mod.
Yea, thats what i'm going with.
Though on a side note, having looked at many hinge pictures.....are mine on the wrong sides? It seems like everyone else has the "arms" pointing towards the wrong of the jeep. Mine point towards the back.
