High idle when starting up then slowly goes back normal idle.

 

That's normal on some vehicles in cooler weather.

hey thanksfor the reply cold weather idle but just started doing it never had a problem in the cold newengland winter..

 

If it stays high too long replace the idle stepper motor.

 

Mine was doing the same thing not very long ago, you need one of these

hmm i just cleaned mine and it still idles at 2000 rpm and then drops when i throw her in gear

 

did you clean also the throttle body? if yes did you remove the throttle plate?

 

The throttle plate looks brand new I cleaned it so good. I als cleaned the iac motor. My next step is to sea foam it.

 

I ask because when you remove the plate (two tiny screws) you must first close the the throttle and center perfectly the plate in the venturi before putting back on the screws, otherwise it might stay a little open.

 

No I kept it on. But I'm thinking that the high idle is normal until it warms up
