High Beam elec. problem
I just bought a 95 grand cherokee which has 107k. It has been well maintained and all stock.
So I am driving along and start to smell burning plastic (Wiring) I pull over and turn off the car. I notice that the blue dash high beam light is still on, so I look and the head lights are still on. The column switch does not work to change the high beams. They stay on forever, so I just unhooked the battery for now.
The headlight switch on the dash does turn on the rear tail lights so I'm thinking it might be the switch in the column. Did it just get so hot it melted together, will be pullin it apart tomorrow.
I have only put 33 miles on it myself and want to make my new jeep happy. Thanks for your input.

There was an option for the headlights to stay on for a few minutes at night when the lights were on and the ignition turned off. It was controlled by a timer in the fuse panel. You might check if you have this option and if it is working correctly. If you do, you should just be able to pull the timer and have them shut off.
