Engine: 4.0 with all of the noise and clatter
The front pump in the transmission is required to produce more hydraulic pressure for reverse, it puts a little more load on the engine. Just my theory.

mine does a lot of that, shifting rpm's, when its in park it gets real high like 1500, or when its idleing in drive at 250, and sometimes when i start it in the morning it just stalls out so i gota gun it for a while to keep it running.
