Default help! transmission trouble

Hello my name is Jason im from WV just bought a 95 grand Friday with transmission trouble. Problem is that it doesn't want to change from first to second gear unless you put the r.p.m. up to about 4500 or so and feather the throttly a little, but u can barley push pedal down and still won't change right even if rpms are up high. I did notice that the speedomemeter is not working will this cause the problem with shifitng gears. I checked fluid level its fine and oil is not scorched or smells burnt. Some people told me to fix speedo or it could be the transmission control module all help would be appericated in this fix. thanks for looking

there should be two sensors. first one is for vehicle speed other is a kind of revolution sensor for automatic transmission. it was so on my pathfinder which i sold three years ago.

thanks to all but it does have 2, A VSS and a transmission output shaft speed sensor so hopefully tomorrow i will go pick on up. One question the new VSS came with new wiring and guy put it on jeep before me i have from factory harness a blue/black stripped wire. A white/black stripped wire. And last i have a white/orange stripped wire. the new VSS has blue/black, solid orange, and white/orange stripped. it hooked up as follows. blue/black to blue/black, solid orange to white/black stripped, and white/orange stripped to white/orange stripped does this sound right?
