I am a mopar guy however i am not as familiar with Jeeps as I am with the LX platform or the Ram brand.

I am looking for some help with what to look for when purchasing a 99-04 GC. I got a buddy who has little car knowledge but is looking to get into a Jeep to get him to work through a "northeast winter".

He has about $5k to spend, so I am interested in what are some "known issues" to look for or or if there is any advice you could give during the search. I will be looking the GC over when we find something for mechanical issues so I was just hoping to get some direction from those who know best.
