Help! Overheating..
Hi guys!
I have a 2002 Jeep grand Cherokee and I've been having the problem of overheating. When driving, it runs perfect! When I'm at a drive thru or in traffic... It overheats! Fixed my radiator & fan already due to that overheating.
Worked great at first then it just started acting up again.
Has anyone had this problem? Anyone know what I might need to do to fix it?

I'd be willing to bet your electric fan is fine but not turning on when it's supposed to. It's controlled by the PCM (computer) with a signal from the temperature sensor. There is a relay underneath the right headlight that turns it on. It's a real PITA to get to, but it's probably your problem. You can get the fan to run by turning on the A/C when it overheats, but that's only a stop-gap. If you take out the right headlight, you'll see a black plastic panel. It's underneath that! As I said, getting to it requires taking a lot of crap off the car or cutting thru that panel. Good luck.

Yep thats her. Just had to replace mine(fan and relay) and I cut right through the plastic with a dremel tool. Took all of 5 minutes to do, and when I was done I replaced the plastic panel and taped over it.

I just wanted to mention the reason Jeep put it there was to protect it from the weather. Make sure you use something more substantial than tape when you replace the piece, like RTV or something similar.
