hello all, was wondering if someone can assist identifying my tcase? in hours of research i have done, my 98 5.2 ZJ should have the external output, but after looking at whats under my ZJ, it looks to be internal with the tail shaft housing. did the PO install the old style (pre 95) tcase?

Looks right to me. What does the tag read?

 

I find it strange that it's not covered in oil and is bone dry. Read the round tag, it will tell you what t-case you have.

 

The whole vehicle looks like a "mall crawler" that's never been off road. It's TOO clean underneath!

this is my first JEEP and have only owned now for 2 weeks, we have a 2010 ford exploder 4x4 and 01 F350 4x4, the JEEP is the family favorite by far, we all love it!

trying to find a 231 or 242 to drop in, i need/want 2WD. this will be my DD and trail rig, so 32s or 33s max, cant wait!
