Help identifying this wiring rear underside of 99 JGC
ATTACHING 2 PICTURES
Hi - can anyone identify what this wiring is? I bought this jeep about 10 days ago and found this today.......someone has attempted to wrap frayed wiring with blue painters masking tape...I swear it WAS NOT ME! I will re-wrap this tightly and fully with black electrical tape but wonder if I need to replace it completely?
This is located underneath the vehicle, near the rear, but forward of the gas tank and nearer to the driver's side. One end of the wires goes into this soft round rubber boot and the other leads to an electrical connector.
Thanks in advance.

Hello Bustedback - that would make sense.....the guy I bought it from had an aftermarket hitch installed (a nice heavy duty U-haul hitch that is fully correct and a fit to this truck) and told me he could not afford to have the trailer wiring installed.......he did NOT tell me he tried to do it himself.......so, I guess that is what he did and this is the result. Sheesh......painters tape?
I had been pondering getting the wiring kit and putting it in. I need to get under there and see just how screwed up it is..........I do see some bare wires and I WILL BET this has something to do with my cruise control problems!!!!!! If wires are touching other wires or grounding out - plenty of potential electrical gremlins are possible.
Thanks for the response man.
