1998 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0 I’ve been having issues, jeep originally after warming up with stall, sputter die, and wouldn’t restart, but started sometimes after cranking cranking for 15 minutes and later or immediately start to sputter, backfire, and sometimes die. I took it to auto-zone, scanned it, no codes so I started replacing fuel pump, TPC, IAC, CPS, MAP, cleaned out throttle body and cleaned! Ran pretty good for several hours with no issues! Next day went to fill up tank and it started to do the same thing. I had it scanned again ignition coil code came up. I replaced it (it had hair line crack). It ran almost perfect for about 15 minutes then started sputtering first computer corrected but then started sputtering and sputtering and sputtering. Can’t start it but sputters. I will try tomorrow but I know after about 15 minutes it will do the same if it starts. Help!

 

Turn your ignition switch quick 3x forward not to start and leave it on the third turn in the accessory mode to see your factory codes flash on the odometer, this will tell you accurately what the scanner at the auto store won't pick up through the obd port.
