Default A few different issues...

Ok, I've been having a few issues with my 96 4.0:

First: At first start of the day it runs really rough for about 20-30 seconds then smooths out.

Second: Sometimes when honking the horn it wants to die, or does die. Same thing when I open the door and the buzzer comes on.

Third: if I drive around for about 45 mins and stop, I have to wait about 20 minutes before I can start it again. If it does start before then it sounds and runs terrible.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. If you need more info let me know and I can try to describe what you need.

New parts recently replaced: Ignition coil, CPS, TPS, IAC, plug wires, and cleaned throttle body.

First thing you need to do is have it checked for any codes.

Do you still have the codes they gave you?

No, they just told me my CEL was on because of the neutral safety switch.

That NSS doesn't seem to be related to any of the issues mentioned.
I think two different issues:

1)The rough start that smooths out as well as the have-to-wait-20 minutes before starting
2) the electrical wants-to-die-when-honking -the horn

1) possible signifiant injector leak?
2) Might want to start with checking battery (including load test) and clean and tighten ALL grounds as benchmark

Ok cool... Is it safe to buy refurbished injectors?
I will clean all the grounds that I can find and have AutoZone do a battery check.

I agree with Roler - seems to be separate issues.

This guy has the Bosch upgrade injectors for $100 every now and then. I would just upgrade to bosch 703 injectors if you are trying to do a tune-up -- Fixed this loud ticking that I thought was a lifter (turned out to be an injector).

As for the horn and buzzer, does the car want to die when lots of electrical load is on the system? Try turning on the blower to high, highbeams and hazzard lights on, interior lights and defroster on, etc. and measure battery voltage. Should be at LEAST 13.2v IMO.
Otherwise it could be a pinched wire somewhere?

Awesome, thanks!

I have a new problem, just started today: went to start up this morning, engine cranked and crank but would not turn over. Finally got it to turn over, after about 3 minutes at idle it died. Could not get it started again... Also noticed the "Gen" light on when trying to start it, never seen that before.... Any suggestions?

A bad alternator perhaps? Have you used a multimeter to measure the battery when the engine is running?

Have you done the things in post nr 8 yet? You dont have a new issue, its part of the same you already had...

about the check engine light: it is trying to tell you something. Read the codes, if you cant get it to a store to check, try getting a reader, or buy a cheap one yourself (invaluable for future)

BUT, What are the codes??? We can't give any real advice without knowing what your Jeep is telling you what may be wrong.
