hard starts and backfires

Ok this temperamental jeep is doing it to me again... 1996 jgc 4.0 hard starts in the morning and instant cut offs till up to temp...replaced the coil, sparks and wires and dist cap.and rotor, fuel filter as well.
also after running about 3-5 minutes while driving.... it will stutter and die while rolling.... then turn back on and backfires..kinda funny to happen near a bus stop but not what i want

also replaced the crankshaft pos sensor.

the question i have is the pick up coil? would this cause this ?

also has auto trans 2 wd

Could be the coolant temp sensor, it could be anything.

The conditions you describe are not uncommon to PCM or PCM connector issues. Give the connectors a wiggle and maybe lightly tap on the PCM while it's running and see if you can cause a stumble/stall condition.
