Grand Jeep Cherokee stalls at idle or while driving
The jeep will stall sometimes while idling and at other times while driving. I do not see the engine light ever come on. I can have the car started and idling for 15 minutes then suddenly it will just shut off. No stuttering or choking. It just stops. Most of the time I can not get it to restart immediately. I have to wait 30 seconds or a minute. However sometimes it will restart right away. A couple of times it stalled and I could not get it to restart within a minute (i was on a lunch break) so i went back to work. When i came back a couple hours later, it still would not start up on the first or second tries.
While driving it will sometimes just immediately quit. Electric is still good but no power steering or brakes. Often it will take a minute or two to restart. Once, while at at a red light, the jeep quit running in a slightly different way. While waiting, the rpms dropped to very low levels for a second or two and almost stalled. Then the rpms came back up to normal for a second but then the went back down for a second or two and then stalled. Usually there is no dipping of the rpms at all. It just quits.
I have changed the fuel filter. That did not fix the problem. Any ideas on what i could try replacing next?

Like I have said in the past when these things happen. It sounds to me like a failing PCM. This is what mine did and that's what was wrong. But sometimes it is the PCM and sometimes not. If you not skilled at diagnostics and or basic mechanics, it's best to take it to someone.
