What is the best way, dye, preparation, to use to change the color of the vinyl trim on the bottom and bumpers of my WJ or any ZJ or other vehicle? Mine is a dull battleship grey and I would prefer it to be a darker charcoal grey. I've been told to use a dye rather than paint it, but I don't know what to use. Any ideas?
I just painted my interior from beige to black and I just used the duplicolor interior spray paint and honestly, it came out great. I did about 3 coats of paint on each panel and it looks factory still. I was very happy with the outcome. I used about 10 cans of it but still have a couple pieces to paint still so probably around 15 cans all said and done.

You see! That's my point. My mirrors, door handles, liftgate hinges, and roof rack are black. The side trim looks crappy. The base color is white, so spray painting with black or dark grey anywhere in the same neighborhood is very likely to put overspray on my white! I didn't want to spend a week masking it or taking it to a body shop. I am familiar with Dupont Krylon and think it's great, however I'd probably use a spray gun. It's more consistent and cheaper than buying 15 spray cans. I'm also told if I use a dye, I could wind up with streaks. I wanted your opinion and I think I got it. Thanks, guys.

I did that on my Chevy truck. Awful rough stuff, but it lasted. I did everything below the crease; fenders, doors, box.

My bad! Dupont doesn't make Krylon. Krylon makes Krylon. I think I'll probably go with painting, however Krylon doesn't make Fusion in a charcoal grey. Do I want to go black? Not sure yet.

The cheapest and funnest way to change the color of the faded plastic is to find a nice big mud hole, but this is what I used.

Hey Busted! That looks pretty smooth. When my buddy did my truck, it came out looking like a stipple-plastered ceiling. Very hard to keep clean, but I didn't care because it didn't rust! I'll post a pic of my truck if I can figure out how. Back in a sec.
Nope! I only have a pic of it before I repaired it. Maybe I'll find one later.
