Engine: 4.0 with all of the noise and clatter
It's on the left side of the transmission right above the trans pan towards the rear. It's a three wire plug, not like the XJ NSS switch.

Yes, it's round and screws into the trans case. A plunger on it rides on the shift quadrant inside and controls the reverse lights also.
