Default Got a question???

I have a friend of mine that is looking for a Grand Cherokee. I have heard good things and bad things about them. What should he look for( year, engine, etc)? I dont want him getting a lemon or something that will die on him in a year. Thanks any ideas will help.

Cool thanks. I think I have him talked into an XJ. But I did let him know what to look for.

Thanks

Yeah. ZJ, 93-98. The 4.0L is a hell of an engine to build on, and probably has the most aftermarket support for it. The 4.7 and 5.2 V8's are great, but if you're going to look for a V8, look for the 5.9 Limited.

That's if he's still looking for a ZJ.

At least the 02 has the newer 0331 TUPY head on it. 99-01 WJs and XJs have the 0331 that cracks. Also, IMO the 242 Selectrac t/case is the most trouble free. Stay away from the 249 and 247 constant 4wd cases. They have their foibles.

These are my opinions, but you asked. The XJ is by far the best offroad jeep without mods and has a ton of support for that.
