Just replaced my fuel filter today while I was at work since it was slow. I did it by the book, removed the fuel cap to relieve the pressure, pulled the fuse to disable the fuel pump, cranked my truck till the motor stalled, changed the fuel pump, reinstalled the fuse, but managed to forget to put the gas cap back on.

Well after having to run to the laundry matt I mashed on the gas and my truck wouldn't go past 3k on the RPM. I hit stop sign, noticed the fuel cap wasn't on, so I put it back, and now my truck won't go past 3500.

I've checked the fuel lines twice, no obvious signs of fuel leakage from the lines or the axle, so my guess is I don't have enough fuel pressure built back up.

Am I right in my assumption or way off?

 

You should have full pressure any time the pump runs.

You seem to be having an awful lot of trouble with your jeep, judging by your posts.

 

I did the fuel filter with less than a 1/4 tank, like just this past Monday. I'm getting the pressure back, might need to pull the fuse and reset the fuel pump again. And yes my truck had a few issues, but I'm gradually trying to get them fixed while working in a mech. shop, just the pay isn't all that great.
