I left mine attached when I pulled/installed mine. I jacked up the opposite side of the axle, stepped down on the low side, and used coil spring compressors.
edit - Actually with stock coils, you shouldn't even need the compressors. I used them because I was installing 2" pucks, so I needed a little more room.

Thanks, I've got the axle out from under it now and it'll be much easier to
replace with the springs out.
need to install pucks -- later
It's back together. Just have to tighten everything up, once it's sitting on all fours.
