I would say you have a 355 ratio now(verify by tag on cover or count teeth on ring and pinion and divide the pinion teeth into the ring teeth). You need the 8.8 with disc brakes, found on 96 up. These come out of Explorers, not sure if Ranger will work or not but I have been told to stay away from Mustang rears as they are narrower. The LSD stands for Limited Slip Diff. not sure what the "x"reg stands for and I assume it is a 99 with 373 gears. If this one is the correct width and from an Explorer you will need to regear it or find a D30 for the front from a V8 Grand, the v8s came with 373 gears. Also don't forget that you will need the adapter for the driveshaft. The Spicer # is in one of the other posts.

Most of the cherokees have the 3.55 gears. The one you need dependes on the tires you have. For 33s tires you need the 4.10 or 4.56. It is so important that you keep both axles with the same gear ratio or you can really damage your transfer. I suggest to open the actual axle. Must of the crowns has the gear ratio on the side, but if you can't find it, you can count the theet on crown and divide them with the number of teeth on pinion. The Ford 8.8 works great on XJs but have to change the gear ratio to match your front axle. As drakan1908 said, you can find them on Explorers 96 and up.
Month ago I bought an 97 Explorer rear axle and when I opened i realize it has the 4.10 gear ratio, so my suggestion is not asume the gear ratio just because is the common.
