Default F8 Ignition/ Starter fuse keeps blowing!

Trying to help my neighbor.

he has a 1999 grand cherokee. the F8 starter/ignition fuse pops immediately when replaced.

i would think a wire is grounding out from the fuse to Starter solenoid??, but was hoping some jeep gurus would have a solution to hopefully a common problem for me?!

thanks

If it blows instantly with the key off, I'd suspect the ignition switch itself. Try pulling the connector off the switch and replacing the fuse. If it doesn't blow then, check the harness connector for power. If you have power to the switch, check continuity on all the other wires to ground. If you find one, check it's resistance. If it reads infinity, it's shorted. You're going to need a pin-out diagram of the connector.

I'm sorry, if it reads O ohms, it's shorted. If it reads infinity your connection to the pin or ground isn't good. My bad!
