The heat shield over the exhaust is dangling and bouncing on the muffler and pipes. The shield has rusted around the mounting points and has fallen. Any idea how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

Believe it or not, I've fixed them with drywall screws thru the floorboard! Works well as long as they are short enough not to come thru the carpet. Use fender washers for more coverage.

Drywall screws rust if you blow on them. You will end up with rusty holes in the floor in 1 year. Then it will spread.
Rivets maybe? Seal the metal before and after riveting.

Most of the cars I did this with didn't matter. That was a quick fix and you can do anything that blows up your skirt. The major point is the factory mounting points are steel and the heat shield is aluminum. Dissimilar corrosion eats away the aluminum and the mounts pull thru the shield. If you use a large fender washer, it will take a lot longer to pull thru. I doubt the car will last long enough to eat holes in the floor. You can use galvanized deck screws.

Understood...
I live at the beach in the salt air. It eats at everything so I have that preservation mentality to make it last.

I had some 18 gauge galvanized sheet, I cut a piece, drilled holes and bent it in a vice to remake the rusted off mount piece. I used 3 self tappers and DOW silicone to hold it all together then bolted it back up properly. I'll get a pic later.

yeah, I'd like to see that. I was thinking of removing the old piece if I could without wrecking it and making a new shield. I'm new at fabricating so I'm not too confident in my abilities just yet.

Had a bit too much to do last night. Ill get a pic after i get out of class at noon. Its a pretty simple piece to make, just gotta line up the bolt holes then bend it.

Rtv has a very high temperature rating. The heat shield won't get nearly hot enough to matter
