Exceptional QuadraDrive in the snow
Here in the UK we are having a spell of snow and ice. Despite having a selection of Jeeps over the past year, I currently have 2 WJ's.
During the snow I have been using my 2000 WJ 4.7 with QuadraDrive and all I can say is "WOW". I am extremely impressed.
I was starting to think that we had special non-slippy type snow until I watched other cars spinning and struggling to even move. The WJ just does everything without fuss or issue. I can't imagine any vehicle handling it better.
I've had a lot of 4x4's but the QuadraDrive system is impressive in that you don't have to do anything. It just works. Without even noticing any slip it sends the power to all 4 wheels and off you go. Give it some power and it will spin all 4 wheels, but its always so easy and handles anything with ease.
I used low range in thick snow on a steep downhill road, and this kept the speed nicely under control.
I also have a 2001 WJ 4.0 QuadraTrak, but I haven't tried that in the snow yet. I've been having too much fun in the V8 Quadradrive.
I am seriously considering selling both the 2000 V8 and the 2001 4.0 and get the best 2004 WJ Overland V8 with QuadraDrive I can find. Any thoughts?
I hear the replacements for the WJ's aren't as good - any views on that?

I feel the same about my stock ZJ with 235/75/R15's. 15 inches of snow is nothing! I always look forward to playing in the snow. My Jeep eats snow for breakfast. The ZJ's have "Quadratrac". I'm not familiar with "Quadradrive".

Old fart with a wrench
Just about any of the jeep drive systems are good. It all depends if you want manual control of the powertrain or you want it done for you. Good tires make all the difference. I recently saw a brand new Subaru Outback sliding around at about 25 mph in the snow. I passed him in my WJ to his amazement. I have the 4.0 with Selectrac. I do, however, find it not so good in 2WD.
