Englishman in need of a diesel grand Cherokee manual
Hi. I'm from the UK and have just acquired a grand Cherokee 2001 3.1L Turbo diesel 5 cylinder.
The head/ gasket has gone and I need a repair manual. Haynes only do US Cherokees which all seem to be petrol (gas).
If anyone could help me get hold of a repair manual I'd be very grateful.
Thanks
Tony

I've been told that Mercedes built that engine. You might want to try them. Or it might be Italian.
We Americans couldn't get a diesel unless someone brought it in from Europe. EPA standards, you know.

Thank you for that. I like talking to our overseas jeeper friends, but sometimes language and terminology can get in the way. I even talked with a Russian guy who was having trouble getting jeep parts without paying a lot of graft to get them, like $600 USD for a radiator fan? Ouch!
Some of our older military guys have worked with jeep diesels, But where they came from or who built them, I haven't a clue.
In my job, I once had to repair an Italian milling machine and the service and parts manual was in Italian. What a nightmare, until I found an old machinist who interpreted it for me. I hope this doesn't happen to you, Shawto.

Thanks Dave. I might be able to get hold of a manual for a 2.7L Diesel engine, which is the closest I'm going to get I think. I bought the jeep off a friend for £173 after he was thinking of scrapping it, so I've little to lose. I'm fairly new to this game so just having a tinker will do me much good, and I might even be able to fix it!
Ok- after extensive research I think I'm onto something:

I just went to your website. Holy ****! 68 pages? If you don't get the info you want, I'd be amazed! (I didn't wait for it to load before I got out!)
