Hi,
I have a 1997 Cherokee Country. I was backing it out of the driveway the other day and it just died. I tried to turn it over and it wouldn't restart. The only way I can get it to start is by giving it gas. It will continue to run only as long as I am pressing the accelerator. It has been sitting for over a year in my Grandma's garage, so I am thinking fuel pump or fuel filter.

Did a little more research and found out the filter is in the gas tank...any thoughts on what my problem might be, and how to fix it?

I suspect a throttle position sensor malfunction. You can check it out with an ohmmeter by disconnecting the plug and checking the ohms readings while moving it thru it's range. IDK what the readings should be, but you should be able to find them in a good manual.
