I think what BlackJack is getting at is if it aint broke, dont fix it. If you dont have any mechanical issues, Id let it ride too. You obviously have a good strong motor. If you pull something from a yard with less miles, you still dont know what you are getting. JY motors are a good shortterm fix for a problem, but if you have none now, doing a swap just because; you may very well end up with a sludged out motor with chewed bearings...for example. And if it does eventually go **** up, a rebuild would be less expensive than a crate motor or a JY motor in the longrun. But of course its your ride to do with as you see fit. This is just my opinion.

That or it may very well have been taken care of, regular oil changes, ect. I kinda thrashed on my D, but the head gasket thing at 93K miles was a bit much. Sensors and normal wear items are expected to go bad. But there is no way a motor should chew up bearings under 100K but there have been many issues with that. There is alot of chatter about it on another forum....dakota-durango.com. But again, if yours runs great, Id let it ride.

Dude, just do maintenance on it. Take the money that you would spend on the motor and put it in savings, then whenever it does fail, you have the money to fix it. Replacing something that isn't broken with an unknown is the most asinine thing to do...

The only major issue Ive had mechanically with mine was the heads. My D was a corprate lease so I have all the maint paperwork and Ive done oil changes religiously and I run synthetic. It has well over 130K miles on it now. No sludge issues either. The last issue I have to work out with it is the valve chatter due to a suspected collapsed lash adjuster (like a lifter sort of). I wouldnt sweat it. Run her 'till she croaks and THEN get it rebuilt.

I think I'll have one of my lungs removed now while I can afford it now instead of waiting for cancer when i don't have money for the operation.
