wow what a write up, over most peoples head but still good. Caps may not be very efficient and may not provide te results they claim, but in the real world I can notice the difference. My amp and bass would flatten out on high output areas of a song if the ac cycled when I had a bunch of lights on, I have 800watts of auxillary lighting btw. With the cap I do not notice this happening. But they are really short duration.

Yeah, The cap can act as a band-aid, but a better fix (And this is only an opinion, not any sort of rule) would be to upgrade "The Big Three".....But if it works for you and you're happy with it, then it's a good solution for you. Sometimes the exact same setup will work great for one person, and horribly for another.

For those of you saying WTF is the big three???

Definition: the "Big Three" upgrade means improving the current capacity of three cables:

1) alternator positive to battery positive

2) battery negative to chassis

3) engine ground to chassis. Some people replace the factory wiring; others add additional cables to the factory wiring.

Also, a bigger (more powerful) alternator may be a good investment.
And, with an aftermarket alternator, you often get the added bonus of shiney chrome......

Mmmmmm....shiney.....

Later.

never said to not fix the actual problem. I have teh high amp altenator but with 800 watts of lighting the amps for the stereo can get some low power spikes when teh ac cycles as that is a huge draw to kick the ac clutch in. It is a very short pulse and is teh ideal kind of spike to fix with a cap.
