Default E brake

97 Grand Cherokee and my E brake does little to stop or hold the truck.
Any trick I should know be for I dive under my Jeep?
I have not had the time get under there and have a look.I hope it is soaking the adjusting nut and tighten.
How do you adjust the cable?
Thanks

had same problem on my 98. i would suggest that you check the e brake shoes first, mine were completely gone, i learned this after adjusting the cable all the way out. There are two adjustments, one at the cable junction mounted on the underbody above the drive shaft, and at each wheel there is a screw type adjustment that spreads th shoes out. I found all of the parts that i needed at the jy for less than 10.00. easy job, but would be easier and quicker with a second person to pull the handle for you.

I just did mine a few weeks back. chok the front wheels, lift the rear, pull up the e brake FULLY then check for rear wheel movement.

from there all you do is tighten the nut until you get the kind of hold you want.

but not TOO much, cause then youll ride it with it dis-engaged.

(but thats obvious ha)

good luck!
