Default Driver Door wont open.

My driver door wont open. The key hole also wont unlock or lock the car. Also i dont have a key fob...

My dilemma is how am i supposed to check whats wrong with the door if i cant open it to see inside?

Can anyone give insight on suggestions please and thank you!

Also if it helps, the driver side window doesnt go down but the control on the driver side can lower and raise all the other windows. i think the actual driver windo is the problem.

Welcome to CF!

65 views and no help, huh? Okay, the only suggestion I have is to use a slide hammer and pop the lock tumbler out of the door. Use the attached linkage to see if you can get it unlocked. The only other way is to cut up the inner door panel to access the mechanism. You might want to get a panel from the junkyard before doing this, though.

I have come across this at work from time to time. It depends on what year you have. Please dont jump straight to the slide hammer. Im not sure off the top of my head what it looks like in there but you can pull the molding on the outside at the base of the window and gain a ton of room to work with.

I would grab some coat hangers and a flashlight and get in there. You should be able to push the button and see what "should" be going on and grab what ever rod has popped off.

Is there something stuck in the door? Like a seat belt or something? This can wreak havoc on latches. SOme times pushing the door further in and the pulling the handle can do it. Even though this may seem counter intuitive I have had it work for me. We had a guy that would come in every couple months for about a year because he kept closing the strap from his golf club bag in the in the trunk of his newer Lexus LX 460. (poor guy, so rough right.) He finally learned his lesson when we had to replace the 800 dollar actuator.

Good luck

I just saw a video on youtube of a guy who tied the inside latch to his steering wheel then pushed the door open. only he didn't push it so much as kick it... I think it was an XJ but I watched so many lately it may have been a blazer...

And what car is it? if the key doesn't unlike the door, a clip may have fallen off inside the door--the one that holds the cylinder. Does it simply do nothing, or does it spin?

You see? All it takes is one answer to get the ball rolling. Other guys had better answers. That's what makes this forum great!
