Default Drive shaft

I'm changing my u-joints in my '04 Grand Cherokee. I got the drive shaft free from the rear diff, just need to get it free from the transfer case. It is covered by a rubber boot the has metal bands around the boot. The bands do not seem to have a release on them. How do I remove the drive shaft from the transfer case? This is my first Jeep, so any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Pete.

That is just a protective boot. You can cut the metal bands and pull the driveshaft off. then use zip ties to hold the rubber boot back on.

Or install a new pinch band.
