Did any Grand cherokee come with a Dana 44

Default Did any Grand cherokee come with a Dana 44



so did any Grand cherokee's come with a Dana splicer d44. and is it better then a ford explorer 8.8

I was was led to believe they only came in a C 8.25

The Dana 44a was used with a v8 and a tow package through 95 I believe

The "a" in d44a stands for aluminum, which is what the center section is made of. Not as strong as the d44.

true true ragged1, guess the 8.8 is the best bang for the buck in this case.

8.8 is stronger than a 44 anyways and easier to find.

No Grand Cherokee came with a Chrysler 8.25.

V8 Grand Cherokee's 96-98 came with D44a's.

The 44a is a stout axle when you truss it, stronger then the iron 44 as well, from my experience. But the 8.8 blows both out of the water easy

ALMOST all the v8 grands came with d44a, mines a 96 and it has a d35, not that its any better

Not true. Only years 96-98 had the 44a. Early 96 had Dana 35s. The 44a is better then the 35. Especially if it is trussed.

Are 8.8's with 3.73's common? What bolt pattern do they have? 5x4.5 or 5x5? Are they the same width?

I did this swap feel free to ask questions. Yes 8.8s with 3:73 are pretty common. Yes they have the same 5x4.5 bolt pattern. They are 5/8" narrower on each side, I don't even notice the difference

wow sorry i wrote that wrong i was looking at things for my xj but the axles in a grand came with D35 and i didnt know they came with a d44A ok thanks

kool i picked up a explorer 8.8 caliper to caliper for 100 bucks
