Death Wobble
Hi there new to the forum and the concept. I have a question. I have a 2001 Jeep grand Cherokee Laredo slightly lifted all wheel drive. It has 180,000 miles on it. I just purchased it a couple of months ago. A week ago it started the trademark death wobble. I changed the inner and outer tie rod ends. I also changed the steering stabilizer. It's definitely tighter however it still wobbles at Higher speeds and definitely when I hit the brake. The mechanic shop wants 1000 bucks to fix but I did it for a couple hundred and a few hours of time. Are there any ideas as to what else it could be?

The short answer is any part of the whole front suspension being wore can cause it.Most of the time its the track bar and since its lifted does it have a stock trackbar or aftermarket adjustable one ?

I'm pretty sure it has the stock track bar since nothing appears to be adjustable. Should I go with an aftermarket just want one or does it matter if I put a stock one back in? Since it's lifted

check your ball joints
also check your rotors/pads
and the lower track bar mounting point, the bolt hole can become ovaled and that can cause death wobble
also check your steering gear box itself, my friends gear box has major play in the shaft its self, causing bad death wobble

Yes. I would say with a 4" lift, you may need adjustable lower control arms to get the caster back where it belongs as well as a track bar. With only 2", you're still changing the geometry enough to make any worn parts cause problems.

tie rods, all of them, not just inner outer but the pitman-to-knuckle ones, both ends. After that, track bar, track bar bushing upgrade, track bar to frame bolt hole, all 4 ball joints, after that
