Dash Lighting
I have the single zone heating in my 2000 WJ. I noticed some of the lighting around the controls' (Fan, Temp, and the 3rd one) were partially lit the other night. I gave that area a tap and it got better, but the same thing the next night.
I took that part of the dash out and same thing, intermittent as I jiggled it. Are there replaceable bulbs in that section? Or are they diodes? I saw 4 little round pieces that look like the backside of sockets for bulbs. One for the Fan switch. Two for the Temp Control and one on the last switch that controls air flow. I could not twist them out. I didn't force them for fear of breaking something. I thought that I would ask here first. Minor irritation but if its easily taken care of, i'd like to do it. It looks like that area is held together by 4 Torx type screws? Either that or it is not designed to be taken apart. Thanks

Old fart with a wrench
I just replaced them in my WJ. They twist out counter-clockwise less than 1/4 turn. The bulbs are PC94's but are cemented into the base. You have to get them at your local dealer, unfortunately. There are 4 bulbs. Mine had grey bases and the replacements were black.

Thanks. Mine are gray as well. I find it odd that they work intermittently which suggests that they are not burned out. Might it be just a "contact" issue similar to what happens with the tail light bub connections in these vehicles?
