After setting the zone I remember driving in tight circles until the compass was able to calibrate itself.

You know what's funny? I read that procedure for aligning the compass and the warning about magnets in the vicinity. I have a rooftop service light on my WJ with a neodymium magnet in it and it doesn't seem to effect my compass at all.
