I know....dumb question!
But here's why....
My 1998 ZJ Limited has a wire going to the rear view mirror and a push button on the bottom? What is that?
Reason: I am removing a touch screen double din from a 2014 Jeep Compass, and the mic is in the review mirror. Was going to swap mirrors. I have the theft code too!
I found a wiring diagram for my 98 ZJ Radio.
I can only only find a radio wiring diagram for a 2012 Compass, hoping it's the same as the 2014.
I think I'll need a kit from Crutchfield though to make it fit. Looks like the center AC vents get deleted. Mine don't work anyhow...lol
There's a nice Kenwood in it right now...but single din. This one from the Compass has hard drive...all kind of stuff.

It is for the automatic mirror dimming. The button turns automated dimming on or off. The wire supplies power to the mirror, and (I think, not 100%) controls the driver's side mirror's dimming function, if equipped.

Thanks I appreciate that! Okay I can do away with that then. I want to swap mirrors out. The compass mirror has some type of dimming control also...but a great mic built in for the phone usage when needed for hands free calling. I can use that wire then from the prior dimming mirror thingy. I suppose it's just a hot wire.

Shouldn't be a problem. I don't know if there is any standard voltage for those, but you might want to make sure they are the same, just to be safe.
Oh, and the ZJ mirror sensors are integrated with the mirror. I'd imagine it would be the same for the Compass, but check that too!

Thank you I will check that
The stereo in the Compass is really nice. I can't install until I get a kit from Crutchfield to put it in. But pulling it from the Compass today. And the mirror.
I tried a Million times I can't find a 2014 compass radio wiring diagram. Only 2012 probably the same. Hopefully.
