So Im a loyal Grand Cherokee owner... recently traded in my 2005 WK for a 2012 Overland... what a nice Jeep!

When I bought the car, I also got the carfax... the last owner bought it and serviced it regularly at the same dealer, every oil change and inspection was listed. There we no issues, other than a part the replaced 3 times called the "evaporative emissions vent purge valve" (dealer wording).

I just got a MIL and the code read, PO441 (thanks autozone)... which seems to be linked to the same issue. I am not so inclined to bring it back to the dealer because they replaced a part 3 times and still the same issue. Yes, there is a warranty though.

Any thoughts? Could this really just be a bad gas cap?

My manual says a P0441 is "insuffient or excessive vapor flow detected during evaporative emission system operation". This is kind of vague as to what the problem really is, so they just replaced the purge valve hoping this would cure the problem. It's possible there is a hole in one of the vent lines to the tank or the canister is plugged. Something like that. It could even be a pinched purge hose.
