Car Jack
Hi Guys
I am a newbie car maintainer from Perth Western Australia. I need to get under the Jeep and am going to buy a hydraulic trolley jack. Would a 2000kg jack lift the Cherokee safely and if so is $99 Aus dollars reasonable price - second hand?
Cheers

The wet curb weight for WJ is less than 2000kg. So unless you are trying to lift the entire vehicle off the ground with that one jack, pretty sure that 2000kg rated jack will work. But I still recommend jack stands. I don't trust some hydraulic pump to hold my vehicle up while I am crawling around under it. I always add jack stands for safety.
Thank you XJ for your advice, I will definitely use jack stands - I might make an offer of $80 for the jack and see what happens, thanks again!

I'd like to say, don't buy a cheap Chinese jack. Spend the money for a good one and maintain it. Don't leave it out in the rain and keep it clean. For on-the-road work, I use a sissors jack that I welded a better top piece to. I also carry a cross lugnut wrench. It fits on top of the spare in my WJ or behind the spare in my ZJ. JMHO
