Believe me, I have read every post on DW and cannot for the life of me figure it out. On my XJ it was as simple as putting on a new track bar. Not on the WJ though. Ugh!
Here's what I got: 99 jeep WJ with OME lift with RC track bar. Every front end suspension part is new. Alignment twice. I have thoroughly checked every component for the slightest bit of play. So today I decided to drill out track bar mount and install a 1/2 grade 8 bolt. No change. I was so sure it was the track bar the other day so I called rough country and they sent me a new hiem joint but that didn't help either. Please, any suggestion?

 

You said you have read every post on DW so you must of read out of balance tires can cause DW but you didn't mention having them balanced.

oh, and btw, I have not been able to drive my jeep in 6 months because of this. not because i dont have time, but because i just cant figure it out. I pull out my driveway and hit the first bump in the road at 25mph and BAM!

 

What's you castor angle set at also what tires and rims do you have?

Your the second to ask me about my caster. Rough country told me to add a little caster but when I told the alignment shop that they said I shouldn't have too. What should my caster be at 3.5 inch of lift? Thanks again!

 

Shopping carts have negative caster and you know how wobbly those wheels are. You need positive caster but to much caster can cause driveline vibrations. Do you have a print out of your last alignment?

 

What control arms do you have? Stock, fixed aftermarket or adjustable?

This site it great for XJs but I don't really know how much they differ from WJs

 

I do not have a printout but will get one tomorrow.
And I'm using factory type control arms but they are new. I just don't want to keep throwing new parts at it. Everypart I have put on in the last 6 months has not even slightly changed the DW issue.

 

If I'm thinking correctly with stock arms you probably don't have much positive caster with that amount of lift. Some Jeeps do fine with just a little caster but some need more. IIRC I'm running around 7° caster.

On an XJ you can add or remove shims to adjust the caster if you have stock arms but there is not much room for play. I have never owned a WJ so I'm not sure it's possible but I would think it is.

No problem. You did check your ball joints and or change them too. They can cause DW.

I found this. "Typically, when you lift your WJ about 3" you'll find that the stock control arms reduce your caster to about 1-2 degrees" Does your steering wheel return to center by itself?

 

Ball joints are new as well. My steering wheel does not return. Could that be a caster problem. I almost bought offset ball joints but didn't think that would be a problem since I'm not over 4 inches. But guess I was wrong. The whole reason I didn't do 4.5 inches was because I didn't want to change too much. If I keep going this route I could have went long arms. I just wish I could find the problem without throwing parts at it. I did 4.5 on my XJ with only needing a track bar. Ugh

 

Caster should always be set to the factory spec. of 6-8 deg.

A few things that come to mind....
BallJoints.
Unit bearing hubs.
Broken belt in 1 or both tires.
Worn-out control arm bushings.
Soft or cracked bushing in the trackbar (axle side).
Incorrect toe-in.
Incorrect thrust angle.
Improper camber.
Worn-out steering componenets.
Loose steering gear box bolts.
Cracked unibody at steering gear box.

 

Are you getting bumpsteer along with the wobble?
