can i drive without my front drive shaft in a 94?

Let me start off by saying THANK YOU to all who contribute to this site.
I have a '94 zj limited with the 5.2 v8. Quadradrive (four hi all time)
The viscous coupler has crapped out.
My question is: Can I remove the front drive shaft and use as a daily driver without damage to vehicle?
I know I should be able to, but I could've sworn I read somewhere that its not good to do with that particular year/make due to having a vicious coupler (or something along those lines).
I plan to start looking soon for a transfer case to swap, and I know theirs plenty of info out there on that subject. I just want to be 100% sure about my question. Thank you in advance for any input.
