Bought a used 04 WJ on Friday. The A/C is acting up, the blower works on all settings, clutch and compressor both kick on when AC button is pushed. It will blow cold for a few seconds (40 or so) then blow luke warm for a minute then cold again for a few seconds. There is a noticeable difference in temp when ac button is on vs. off, but the air is not cold at all except for the short bursts. Additionally, each day once the sun went down (temp in the mid 70's) the AC worked fine.

Any ideas/ suggestions???

 

Since the compressor's engaging you have plenty of freon apparently. WJs have a problem with the blend doors in the HVAC assy.

Thank your for the response. Is this a common prblem with manual temp. control? I have found a lot of blend door issues with dual and automatic control, and was wondering if the same applied. Has there been many issues with the motor failing?

My '04 WJ has the manual temp control system and we've had no issues with it since new and it has 88,000+ miles now.
