Is it possible that it is something else (AC evap, etc)? Thanks.

Welcome to CF. The anti-freeze smell indicates a leaking heater core, and the sloshing fluid sound behind the dash is from the HVAC box drain being clogged, and this allows the box to fill up with either AC condensation, or in your case anti-freeze. It usually leaks onto the passenger side floor boards at some point.
The drain is accessible from underneath next to the passenger side frame rail near the firewall.

Thanks for getting back to me. Shortly after I posted this, my water pump went. Swapped that out, no more sloshing or antifreeze smell. I will check the drains as an aside. Not sure if I should pursue looking into the heater core, given the original symptoms are gone?

Default Evaporator Core Headache

Looks like it's my turn to tackle this task. Are you guys having any success with making this an easy job? Yanking out the dash sound like a huge PITA. I have a '99 Cherokee that I've pretty much ripped the entire a/c system out - next is the core.

I too would appeciate the details for the procedure. I have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ which requires the replacement of the in dash AC components.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear about the water pump failure. A cooling system pressure test will indicate if the heater core is leaking/not holding pressure. Listen at the heater box for pressure/coolant escaping.

I haven't heard of any easy ways yet, short of having someone else do it. I'll send you a Private Message.
