Hello, new here and quickly trying to determine best online manuals and repair guides.

I'm looking at AllData and Haynes as two online sources.

Anyone have suggestions? Best? Cost? Etc....

I've found that this site offers a download of the complete OEM repair manual for $7.95.. Best deal I've found so far... That way its always on the computer and I can print pages as I need them and always have clean pages to look at..

hey, thanks, had not seen that site before. prices are very reasonable.

 

I downloaded a manual for my 1998 XJ from this site. Cost was $10.99 and they use PayPal. When you pay they send you an exe file which works in Windows but not Mac. Fortunately I have both so I was able to execute the file which launches a downloader. Click on 'download file' and it transfers about 49M of PDF to your pc.

So far it appears to be quite comprehensive with lots of diagrams. It also explains how things work as well as where they are. There doesn't appear to be an INDEX so you can't look things up by component. For instance, I have yet to find the PCM as a component. The over all interface is a little clunky but it's a small inconvenience. The content is much more comprehensive than Chiltons or Haynes. Overall I'd give it 9 of 10 for content and 7 of 10 for user friendliness. It's worth the money iMO.
