Axle replacement for 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Gentlemen, I've got a 2001 Jeep GC, WJ V8, 2wd, 3.73 gears, Dana 44/226mm rear axle and I need a new one. The the bearings are shot, both wheel and pinion. How do I determine which axle will fit my Jeep and can I use another model year as a replacement.

Model: Grand Cherokee (WJ)

Engine: 4.0L

I believe any D44 from any WJ V8, 99-04 is a perfect drop-in fit as long as the ratio is the same. The difference would be weither it has Quadradrive lockers in it or not. As far as I know they can be installed and not used if desired.
