Hi they i have a jeep cherokee 1999-2004 v8 axle i no its a dana it has 3.73.1 lsd ratio and a d44 diff cover is to small its not a alloy case so im guessing not a 44a they is no id tags or markings but dos have a sticker on the side were the prop shaft bolts to any help would be very greatfull

 

Did they use anything other than a Chrysler 8.25 in the WJ's? Is the bottom flat?

 

Part number seems to suggest it's a Dana 44. So probably just a different variant of D44.

 

Thanks pat i did see a 44 hd axle seams to have the same 3 bolt holes at top as mine but different flange to prop shaft

 

The two rear axles that came in the WJ were the Dana 35 and the Dana 44a. That one is the Dana 44a.

 

Ok ill recheck caseing today with a magnet cheers for the info can i ask another
i do need the torq specs to the bearing caps am i right in saying the wj44 torq specs are the same as wj44a or wj44hd just in a different caseing
