Default Has anyone seen a Ford 8.8 axle tube slip ?

I just installed a 8.8 in my XJ and I didn't have anyone able to weld the axle tubes and I was wondering if anyone has seen this actually happen before with there own eyes. Like how hard do u have to be wheeling to make this happen? I'm moving to Seattle WA and plan on sting with the jeep a lot more. Is this really necessary to do?

Never hurts. I have seen dana 60 tubes spin. You have to really be abusing it though. What size tires are you running? From Where are you moving to Seattle?

I'm moving from one corner to the other. I'm in Tampa FL. I'm active duty Air Force. I currently have 32" tires. Biggest I ever plan in going to is 35" probably. Why do they spin?

Usually tubes spin if you get the tires locked into a crack or undercut step while Wheelin. Especially if you are applying a lot of gas. Lots of torque+lots of traction+ not moving forward= spun axle tubes.

Thank you for serving. I just moved to Lynden Wa from central WA. Im about 2 hours north of you then.

I seen it spin in a CJ2A with chevy 350, Dont remeber what axles he was running. But he droped the clutch, going in and out of a little ditch by are house. I do know he was running 33" tires. Axles were transplanted into the jeep. tires stuck out about a foot past sides of jeep.
