Does anyone know how the average economy is calculated in the upper console digital computer thing? Mine always says 9.6 no matter what so im thinking there might be something wrong with the little computer in the upper console because I disconnected the battery for 10 min, turned it on and it went from 14.4 to 9.6... I've calculated my economy many times by filling up and dividing how many miles i've driven by how many gallons and usually get about 13.
Any help or resources are appreciated!

I think those early system was just guessing most are way off.

 

Mines works pretty close on my 01 with 32s. It's of by 1mpg give or take .5. There should be two buttons under that screen hold them both for a few seconds and it resets those information. Do that and drive normal.

 

Yes, if you can reset it, it should start calculating by fuel usage and mileage from that point on.

-__- , held down both and it went to zero. Now all i gotta do is wait for my new track bar to arrive, get it aligned so i can drive it and see from there!

 

One thing I have found is that long periods of idling will effect your average mileage. I deliver newspapers and in the winter, I spend sometimes 2 or 3 hours waiting at the branch distribution center for the truck to arrive and trying to stay warm. That cuts into my mileage A LOT!
