Question Auto start/stop got intermittent and sometimes wouldn't re-start - now hard to start

Hello,

We have a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The problem started with it sometimes not re-starting at a light after an auto-stop. Put your foot on the gas and it doesn't re-start. That's always tough with the cars beeping behind you!

Now it's just plain hard to start in the morning. And mornings are ranging from 40-60 degrees. So it's not a cold issue.

I was reading that a lot of people said this was caused by a battery issue or a bad ground issue. But yesterday I removed both the regular battery and the auxiliary battery. I also sanded down the area around the ground connection with fine sandpaper. I put both batteries back into the battery well and put a layer of vaseline on all connectors.

After that it seems like everything is still working great with the battery system.

Both batteries are at 12.5-12.7 volts unplugged. When the car started I was measuring 14.2 volts on the battery so the alternator is working. And when I was measuring the battery voltage while turning the key (with everything on - lights, turn signal, fan, and radio) the voltage only dipped to 10.36 volts. I was told those were the magic numbers - above 12, above 14, and above 10 at max load. So my educated guess is this is not a battery or aux battery issue.

OK. It just feels electrical, says my gut. So that's either connectors or sensors.

Now I've also gone through the car and disconnected and then reconnected every major electrical connection I could find. So the big one under the driver seat that's visible. The two under the driver seat that are in the same cubby that the battery is kept in on the passenger side. The one under the dash near the emergency brake foot level. And the two under the passenger seat. I also disconnected the line into the fuse box, sanded that down, applied vaseline all over the line end and the fuse box connector and tightened that down to secure it back in place. Then I went through and pulled out every fuse in the fuse box and then re-pushed each back down.

Still happening! Darn!

Any other ideas for why the car is starting intermittently (and by intermittently I mean mostly not starting and then for some unknown reason every so often you turn the key and it just starts up)?

Problem is that I'm in Boise, ID, there are only 2 Jeep dealerships in the area, they have no appointments in the short term (one gave me an appointment 2.5 weeks out, the other 5 weeks out) and this is our only car.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

So, decided to share my experience using a site where you can find information about dedicated server hosting. This place turned out to be a real discovery, and I'm happy to tell you what I liked. First, what immediately attracts attention is the simplicity and convenience of the interface. Everything is organized in such a way that at a glance it is clear where to look for the necessary information. It is simply impossible to forget about something important - the site is all thought out to the smallest detail site here https://www.namecheap.com/hosting/dedicated-servers/ . The description of services is clear and accessible, all data on dedicated servers are given with detailed characteristics, and most importantly - they are explained in simple language, which is easy to understand even for a beginner. It is especially nice that the platform provides not only information about servers, but also a lot of useful recommendations for customization. All these tips will help you to accurately choose the best option for any needs, whether small projects or more serious resources. It is also worth noting the support, which is always on top. Questions are solved quickly, employees are competent and always ready to help understand any details. This undoubtedly adds confidence in choosing this service.
