Intermittent thing, happens sometimes and then I may not see it for days...
Dang Coolant Sensor ... My center display keeps going off saying that the sensor is bad. I just replaced it like 2 weeks ago... Is this a common thing for ZJs?

The problem is with the Vehicle Information Center. This write-up shows how to remove and repair it. >http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f13/c.../#post11719192

Sweet. Thank you, I really hate that I can't search on this app. I know a lot has already been covered in previous threads, just hope they fix this bug...

One other problem... Dash lights are screwy... When I turn the headlights on I lose most of my speedo and stuff. But if I press on the dimmer switch then it comes on. Let go drops out.... Replace dimmer switch? Junkyard?

I have a 2001 Grand Cherokee Loredo that keeps giving me a low coolant level warning yet I keep checking my coolant and I couldn't add a capful of coolant it's full. What gives? It ticks me off.

Any thoughts??

The sensor in the coolant tank is bad. I've seen the little floats half filled with coolant before, the computer will read them as a lot lower than they are.

If it is like my ZJ you can get a new one from Autozone for about $20. Mine screws right out after the plug is disconnected.

Any pics of it? Is it on the top of the overflow tank with the two wires coming off of it?

I was hoping for a fix to the dash lite issue, mine don't go blank, just very dim. I'll wait and see, maybe spray some contact cleaner in there and see what happens.

Default spedometer guages not working and check engine

i have a 2001 grand cherokee that the gauges are not working on the spedometer but when tested by turning on the ignition and holding the odometer trip button works. Also the check engine, sentry key and check gauges dummy lights are lit and engine codes not working. but is not throwing any codes even at autozone check. Any Ideas?

This is not an easy thing to do, but check the instrument cluster wiring connector. About the only way to access it is to pull the cluster. It could simply be the ground connection.

On the ZJ dash lights, you can pull the headlight switch, open it up, clean it and check the solder joints.

On the low coolant warning on the ZJ, WJ, the float does get full of fluid. What I've done with mine is just overfill it.
